My Students

We have an amazing group of 4th graders. They come into our classrooms every day, eager to learn, ready to take on new and challenging tasks, and excited for what is in store.

Our fabulous 4th graders come to school each and every day excited to research topics of interest based on their own uniqueness.

These eager students come from a diverse group of cultural, economic, and academic backgrounds. We work in a class community where most households have two working parents.

My Project

This grant will allow us to provide a Spanish copy of The Lemonade War to our Spanish speaking families which will allow all families to become more involved in their child’s literacy development. This text will also allow us to incorporate our economics unit as well as provide real world applications of supply and demand and math standards. We need an additional 20 copies of The Lemonade War in Spanish in order to for Spanish speaking families to read together.

Studies show that parental involvement in literacy activities is more powerful than social class, family size, and level of parental education.

Households that encourage learning, communicate reasonably high expectations for achievement and future careers, and where parents are involved in their child’s education are more accurate predictors of a student’s academic achievement.
