Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students live in single-parent households or have lived through some sort of trauma. They are all just looking to be accepted and to please the loved ones around them. Sadly, due to their low economic status, many do not have positive role models at home to follow. Therefore, they come to school looking for those positive role models when it comes to their academics and even their well-being. They are little sponges eager to learn everything about life.
My Project
I am requesting books on reading and writing strategies to help me better help my class. I have a very diverse class this year. I have students who range from Kindergarten reading level to 5th grade reading level. As we know reading and writing go together, so by strengthening one area we are strengthening the other.
Even though I have been teaching for eight years, we can never stop learning.
This year especially I find myself reaching out to many different resources, so that I can better serve ALL of my students. From my very beginners to my most advanced.
