I teach twenty-two eager second graders in a Title I school near a military base. The students in my class come from many different backgrounds. Many of the students in our community are socioeconomically disadvantaged, with more than half of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Even with the challenges some of my students face, they come to school ready to learn every day!
I believe in putting kids first - every student, every day!
My students are an awesome bunch of kids! They are smart, creative, kind, and caring. They set goals and then strive to meet those goals every day and never give up! We have a supportive school family and community, but with fewer funds for classroom resources, we need your help meeting the diverse needs of our students!
Many of our students lost everything during Hurricane Florence. Our community and families are rebuilding and trying to return to some sense of normalcy. Our students need us to be strong and provide for them like never before. We, as teachers, need your help in rebuilding the strength and confidence of our students!
My Project
My students are fortunate to have their own computer to complete assignments. However, not all students have headphones to use during this time. Our school uses a wonderful computer program to help differentiate learning for each student in reading and math. Focus is critical during this time, but it is difficult to focus when you can hear everyone else’s computer around you.
In order for my class to be successful, each student needs their own set of headphones so there isn’t noise coming from 18 computers and they can focus on their lesson!
These headphones will allow my students to focus on their individualized lessons. The quietness granted from the headphones will help create an environment where learning gaps can be closed and confidence be built!
