Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
When students see themselves being represented in the classroom, it helps them feel that they belong there. The books selected in this project help my students feel represented and understood while in my classroom. They also help by teaching them how to embrace features that make us different from the rest.
A flexible and calming learning environment promotes collaboration and participation amongst students.
These items, such as clipboards, surf laps, etc, will help foster more natural interaction, which can help them feel more comfortable to share ideas and ask questions. Flexible seating can be beneficial for different learning styles and for meeting their individual needs.
Writing journals are private and will help our students reflect on their learning, express themselves, and connect with their experiences. Journaling is proven to help foster a sense of belonging and safety.
