Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are highly capable students who have encountered barriers such as teen parenthood, violence, homlessness, or lack of teachers for their courses, along their path towards graduation. Many of my students do not know where or when their next meal is coming. During the school day, which is 7 hours, students are consistently learning which is great, but their brains and bodies get overwhelmed and exhausted. Snacks help them take a needed brain break to regain focus. This project will help fund some of the goodies that students are most excited to receive. Also, it reminds them that the staff values and recognizes their efforts and encourages their further success.
The Student Support and Success Center is a credit recovery program.
We want to give our students everything possible to reach their highest potential and a snack will do just that!
