This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
First graders at Clay Elementary love to read, but often it is difficult to find books they can read without a lot of help.
Having books on their independent reading level will help foster a love of reading and a lifetime of success.
Many of our first graders at Clay Elementary come from lower socioeconomic households where there are few picture, if any books in the household.
They love to read, but need books in order to do this. Your donation will help put books in their hands that they will be able to read on their own, thus developing a love of reading!
My Project
With your help, the first graders at Clay Elementary School will be able to read a new book every day that is on their independent reading level. This means that they will be able to take the book home and read on their own to their mom, dad, brother, sister, grandmother, and even the pet cat if they want to! Many of our students' families speak very little English, and if the student can read the book independently, they can enjoy reading it to their family without worrying about what to do if they need help.
Your donation will make an incredible impact on how students view reading.
Many students struggle with books that are too difficult. With your help, we can put books into the hands of children that they can read on their own. And together, we can foster a love of learning!
