Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year has been the toughest in my 18 years of teaching. I teach 10th graders and I have about 40% SPED students in class. Attendance is quite inconsistent and due to the varying skill levels and truancy, some students find it hard to follow the lessons at hand. I would like to get Nearpod to make learning more individualized and use videos in my lessons. Nearpod can make this happen and would greatly help my students.
My Project
Teacher-shortage at my school left me with more than 40% SPED students in my regular class with no Special Ed teacher assistance. With varying levels of reading skills, it is hard to reach everyone. With Nearpod, they can have resources that I can set at student-paced. They can also use their laptops at home to work on the assigned tasks with videos and audio-assisted readings in one spot (Nearpod).
My students will benefit from this digital resource because they can work on lessons and review materials on their own while I am actively helping others or teaching.
With no Special Education teacher available to help in class, some students are not effectively served as they should.
