My Students

Our students are advanced learners and love to use technology. I would like to be able to have technology access available in my classroom every day instead of having to share computers with the entire school. My kids love to use the computer and are very proficient in technology use, but not every student can afford their own device. They are advanced learners who have much potential, however I do not have technology available for them to use on a daily basis.

My Project

My course has the ability to heavily integrate technology and the rapidly growing field of GIS. I would love to be able to expose my students to this more often and use it in the course of our daily activities, however I have to share computer carts with the entire school, making it sometimes hard to get one when I need it. Some students have their own device but many students cannot afford one. Therefore, I am trying to build my own personal class set of Chromebooks. If I can keep a set of Chromebooks in my room, I would have these at my disposal anytime I need them.

The field of GIS, or geographic information systems, is a hot job market offering very good paying jobs with the ability to be hired almost immediately upon graduation.

This technology is used in multiple different job fields. I would like to be able to expose my students to this technology and to do such I need to have access to computers on a regular basis. I also have access to multiple lessons and activities that will help my students to not only understand the course material in my subject area but also expose them to this software by using the leading GIS software to teach principles of my academic area.
