In my very first position as a speech-language pathologist, I will be supporting preschool students primarily diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Through my graduate training, I have learned the importance of supporting language and literacy skills through play.
The items I have include a variety of books, games, and picture flashcards to help promote language in a variety of different ways.
Books will be used to target predictions, vocabulary, sequencing events, and early literacy skills. Games will be used to target play, turn- turn-taking, and help to motivate my students to participate in speech therapy. Picture Flashcards will be used to target increasing the student's vocabulary, picture identification, and parts of speech (ie., nouns, verbs, pronouns, etc.)
