Help Me Digitalize My Lessons While Minimizing the Distractions!
Help me give my students reliable devices to in the classroom. Due to limited resources at my school, science is often the last priority to reading and math. I no long want to compete with other subjects.
We are in the digital era where everything is happening on the phone or computer, and I believe my teaching should be this way as well. I am a biology teacher at an inner-city, Title I school and having access to reliable devices are a challenge. My school has some devices, but not enough to equip every classroom; and as always math and reading subjects takes priority over science. I am always a team player so I manage to make do with the little that I have but my students deserve the best and I will always fight for that!
Imagine a class where students can see the information no matter where they are sitting in the classroom and you can get 100% participation with every question!
Towards the end of this 2024-2025 school year, I started doing my lessons via Quizizz rather than using a regular PowerPoint presentation. This had a drastic impact on student performance. The slides and information appear on the student's devices, and after I have taught the information all of the students can participate in a Check for Understanding question rather than one random student. Now, I am able to properly gauge student understanding daily rather than waiting for a quiz or an exam. The best part about this is that I can assign the lessons to students that are sick or absent so that they are not falling behind and allow students that were in class to us the lesson for review!
With these devices I will be able to return to my "No Phone Policy", students will have a reliable device with internet access and the distractions from students texting and viewing social media will be minimized because they will not be on their personal device! Please help me to modernize my classroom!
