My Project

I work with a classroom of six wonderful students with autism. They are unique, curious, loving and fun. Each one struggles with learning in a conventional manner. The items I am requesting would allow me to create adapted books that are tailored to the level each child is working at.

Professional Speaker Best-Selling Author, Kerry Margo, said "Autism doesn't come with an instruction guide." This is so true.

As a speech language pathologist, it is my job to find things that that will engage my students and allow them to learn. I might think that a book I made was great, but the kids might not agree! I need to have a plethora of materials in my bag of tricks in order to reach each child.

I am asking for items that I can use to make adapted/interactive books individualized for my students. With these books, my students will be able to use visuals to answer questions, match pictures, and create sentences. The hook and loop and Tack-It glue will allow my students to reuse the materials, make mistakes, change responses and work at their own level.
