My Students
My students come from a rough part of San Diego but have great hearts and minds. Because of their life circumstances, the majority them don't realize their amazing untapped potential.
I like to think of my students like MnMs: tough on the outside, but sweet on the inside.
I have seen amazing growth with many of my students so far this year and would love to help them mature and evolve even more to become the amazing citizens of the world they are destined to be.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning because it will help make reading more accessible to students with lower reading levels, those learning English as a second language, and artistically inclined students.
Reading lets you travel the world even if you can't leave your seat.
The more students are able to experience through the characters of literature, the more they will be able to ponder the situations of others and become more compassionate human beings.
Reading is a joy unto itself, but unfortunately many students are intimidated by big books with big words. Inviting students to read with the support of beautiful artwork will increase their confidence, love, and ability to read.
