This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

National Board Certification is the most respected professional certification available in education. It supports deep, reflective teaching practices that directly benefit students—especially those in historically underfunded school communities. Research shows that students of NBCTs learn more than their peers, and the impact is even greater for BiPOC and low-income students.

As a dedicated educator with over 10 years of experience, I’ve always believed that students learn best when they feel seen, supported, and challenged.

This certification is my next step in growing that vision.

As part of my journey, I’ll be engaging in rigorous professional learning guided by the 5 Core Propositions of accomplished teaching. They are that teachers:

1. are committed to students and their learning

2. know the subjects they teach and how to teach them to students

3. responsible for managing and monitoring student learning

4. think systematically about their practice and learn from experience

5. are members of learning communities

Over the next two years, I’ll complete four major components to earn certification including unit design, assessment, differentiated instruction based on student needs, analysis of my teaching practices and student engagement, and a reflection on my role as a learning professional in the broader educational landscape.

Certification will help me design more inclusive civic engagement projects and better differentiate instruction for multilingual learners and students with IEPs, ensuring that every student thrives. To increase my chance of success, I’m requesting your help to join The Support Network®, an award-winning, nationally recognized nonprofit that provides expert coaching, mentorship, and collaboration throughout the process. Without this support, the process is significantly more difficult to navigate alone.

Thank you for investing not just in my professional growth, but in the students whose lives will be shaped by it.
