My students are special in so many ways. No matter where they come from or what they are going through, they still come to school and do the best they can do.
My students are creative, positive, and awesome 7th graders at a Title I school in one of the fastest growing cities in North Carolina.
They need many things to make them as successful and competitive as the other upper class public or private schools in the surrounding area. They need materials that catch their eyes and make them want to learn more.
My Project
Colin Powell once said: "There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure. My students need to become more free in their thinking and learning and one way is encourage them to become better learners is my giving them flexibility.
My students are energetic, fun, and smart 7th and 8th graders at a Title I school in one of the fastest growing cities in North Carolina.
They need many things to make them successful and competitive as the other upper class public or private schools in the surrounding area. They struggle in reading and writing, and they need proper instruction and practice to improve those major life skills. I want to give them the opportunity to learn and sit where they want. There are many research articles that describe if students can sit and learn in a way that is comfortable for them, then they are more likely to continue learning and pushing themselves in Social Studies.
I have asked for different materials to bring history alive and flexible in my classroom. I want to implement a flexible seating format in my classroom, this is why I have asked for balance balls and bean bag chairs. This way students can sit around the classroom and work in an area they are comfortable in. We also use index cards for a variety of activities, such as vocabulary cards, swap meets, and exit tickets.
