This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have been working with the Daniel Webster community for over 25 years. While students have come and graduated, our community remains the same. A network of strong individuals dedicated to helping our students learn and grow. The students at Webster come in everyday striving to learn more and help others.
I teach special education in a resource room with amazing students who come from a low-income neighborhood in Chicago where 98% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My Project
Our students work so hard at school. We try to provide all of the resources we can to meet their needs, however, many of our students have needs at home not being met. With this project, it is my goal to start a supply room for families where they can come into the school and get hygiene and wellness products to take home with them for free. We plan to teach families wellness practices that they can use daily. By creating this resource our students and their families will be able to come to school fresh and clean and ready to learn! They will be able to use the towels to help them wash their face and bodies.
