Help Make the Standards Align

Help me give my students educational resources for a wonderful experience in the school library media center that will instill a lifelong love for reading.

My Students

Our school is a Title school that participates in the Title I Schoolwide Program. Many of our students come from low-income families and 99.5% of our students receive free and reduced lunch. While we have a hard-working and dedicated staff, the students and community we serve face economic challenges. Our student population ranges from Academically Gifted to students with varying levels of learning disabilities. Our student body is made up of 94% minority students mostly African American and Hispanic.

Though our students may face struggles they are well rounded students with a passion to learn.

Our students are eager to find school activities that they can participate in and elementary school is the perfect time to instill a love for reading.

My Project

I made the transition from a High School Library Media Coordinator to an Elementary School Library Media Coordinator. In this transition there have been many changes but I absolutely love it. In our state Media Coordinators are seen as instructional support personnel but in many counties on the elementary level, media coordinators teach students as an elective just like PE, Art, and Music.

Your donation will allow me to purchase a standards aligned lesson plan that would benefit my students with structured lesson plans that meet School Library Media Standards.

This curriculum provides scaffolding for every grade level. This curriculum along with the digital citizenship curriculum we will be teaching will help us to develop knowledgeable researchers of information.
