My Students

Imagine spending weeks creating a writing sample and finally getting to publish the story, but when you go to print... you can't. This is what happens for my students because "sticky fingers" got away with our classroom printer!

My students attend a high poverty, inner city school.

My students are in the fifth grade and very eager to learn and embrace all aspects of education. Despite the disabilities of the students in my Special Education classroom they all come every day with an abundance of energy and excitement for learning.

My Project

I am requesting a new printer and ink cartridges for our classroom. In our fifth grade class writing is a major aspect of our learning. The students love typing their final publications to create stories like "the real authors" but are not able to print. Last year our printer was stolen and has not yet been replaced due to budgeting. With a classroom printer I will be able to provide the students with the feeling of success as they finally create a story like "the real authors." I will also be able to use technology in the classroom more efficiently for everyday lessons.

Many of the students in my classroom do not have access to technology at home.

In my classroom I would like to be able to provide the things they are unable to experience elsewhere. A printer would allow our classroom to use technology everyday and the students will be able to proudly show off their accomplishments.
