I am currently teaching a fifth grade inclusion class in an under-privileged school in Brooklyn, NY. Most of my students are reading below grade level, but hopefully with your help I can get them to where they should be- on grade level. My classroom does not have many books in our library, and the books that we do have are either too difficult for most of my students or they are books that do not capture my students' interests. After taking a survey, my students have said they want to read the following books: 1. Scary stories (such as the Goosebumps Series by R.L. Stine) 2. Sports books 3. That's So Raven books 4. Animorphs books 5. Class set of the book Holes (26) 6. Little House on the Prairie books 7. Babysitters Club books 8. Because of Winn Dixie 9. Amelia Bedelia books 10.Gary Paulsen books 11.Patricia Pollaco books These books are of various reading levels and subjects, so all of my children would be able to take part in reading both in and out of the classroom. I truly want my students to be able to succeed in life. If they can learn to love reading (by reading books they want to read), it is my belief that they will be able to achieve all of their dreams. Please help make their dreams come true!
