Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At 7 am, the hallways of my school fill with students. Despite the early morning and brisk winter air, students are filled with energy as I visit with them in the hallway. Their individual personalities shine as they always have some interesting news or facts to share. My students make me smile every morning.
My 6th graders are incredible and I learn from them everyday.
I work with my students to help them overcome obstacles and unleash their potential. My dream is for them to be proud of who they are and learn to value their education. I want my students to see the opportunities that education can bring them. This can start in my 6th grade math classroom where we work together to explore MATH and learn to problem solve.
My Project
Math is the favorite subject of some of my students but is also the least favorite subject of others. I strive to make math interesting and exciting. Math is all around us, yet my students often refuse to accept that. I need math notebooks in my classroom so that I can show my students that math is exciting and applicable to all aspects of life! My students will take notes and record vocabulary in their notebooks. My students also need whiteboards so we can solve problems together in a fun and exciting ways. We can use whiteboards to play games and have competitions. Lastly, we need arts & craft supplies for enrichment. My students are creative and express their creativity in my arts & crafts enrichment class.
Math notebooks, white boards and arts & crafts supplies will provide my students with the resources that they deserve!
They will be engaged in class and working their hardest towards an education that matters to them!
