Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a life skills class with 8 boys and 1 girl. My students are unique learners. I have 2 student who have Down Syndrome, 5 students who have Autism and 2 who are developmentally delayed. They are all unique in their own way. Four of my students are verbal and the other five are nonverbal. I have three students who are in kindergarten, two in 1st grade, two in 2nd grade and two in 3rd grade. It is hard for them to express their wants and needs, as students with disabilities struggle with academics and motor skills.
My students need help because they are unable to communicate their wants and needs.
Our school is a Title I school where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. 50% of my students come from single-parent homes.
My Project
All of the students in my class have a different disability. They are special people and they all learn in different ways. I will use the spring scissors to help them learn to cut on their own, instead of having to do hand over hand cutting. The manipulatives will be used to help my students learn to read and write at their ability level.
Every student is different, unique, and learns in their own way.
I want to help little minds become geniuses and be as independent as possible. All students with or without disabilities are able to learn in their own way.
