This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a special day class of 17 students with varied disabilities such as Autism, selective mutism, SLD, ED, OHI.

My Students: One major challenge facing the students in my special day class is a lack of math skills ranging from simple multiplication facts to understanding how to relate this information to word problems and other math concepts.

I teach in a title one school where 95% of the students are on free lunch. Our district, LAUSD has been hit with huge financial difficulties. The students that enter my class have limited supplies and limited academic abilities. With the budget issues, testing concerns and overall student growth during the year, it is very important that my students develop a love and an understanding for Math. These skills will help my students not only in Math, but carry over to Science, Social Studies and the real world.

My Project

I am asking for various Math Bingo games that will enable the students to work in peer groups as well as whole group on various math skills that can be applied to other academic areas. I am also asking for Math Quiz Show, so that the students can work in groups/teams to achieve success. Thus, the games will allow me to set up a weekly math center in which students will practice and strengthen their knowledge of the various math concepts. My students will be most successful in mastering concepts through continuous practice and reinforcement.

Having these math games would mean the world to all of us!

My students are struggling but show me each day that they are willing to work hard to succeed. They are so eager to learn and I want to show them that others want to support them in their learning as well!
