This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a kindergarten teacher in low income school in San Jose, California. Everyday I strive to excite my students to enjoy reading.
Children love to work with computers and technology and often learn better when they feel like they are playing a game and having fun. For this reason, I would like for my students to have the opportunity to use LeapPads and the LeapPad books in their center activities.
These books will provide children with the chance to listen to books, sound out words, and read independently with the touch of a pen. My students will be able to use these during centers as well as during any extra time they have during the day.
To give my students the chance to work with these fun and educational resources, I will need 6 LeapPad sets (including adaptors, batteries, and headphones) as well as reading and phonics books to use with the LeapPads. These books and LeapPads will benefit 20 students in this new school year. Please help me motivate my students to learn to read!
