Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember listening to those scratchy, old records when you were in school? Even though we are now using Cd's instead of records, upgrading to an iPod would be fantastic!
I teach Kindergarten students in a Title 1 school in Southern California.
They are wonderful kids with a tremendous desire to learn, but many of my students enter kindergarten without having preschool experience. This makes it very challenging in the beginning of the school year. Music is a wonderful way to help bridge that gap.
My Project
This iPod touch and docking station with speakers will make a world of difference in my classroom. Music is such an important resource for teaching difficult concepts. Students have different learning styles and music seems to help every child learn. Before each lesson, I play a related song as a motivational/educational tool. These songs help my students understand and retain pertinent information.
So, not only will the sound quality be much better than the scratchy old Cd's we are using now, but it will maximize the amount of learning time we have.
If I have my entire music library in one place, I wouldn't have to waste time changing Cd's before each lesson.
