This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are members of Key Club, an international student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character, and develop leadership. Over the years, our Key Club has grown to an astounding 200+ members. The club represents the genuine compassion and devotion of our city’s youth. The club members make it a priority to serve our community and help those who truly need it.

Our school is culturally diverse; many students live in a home where English is the second language.

Even though English is a second language for many of our Key Clubbers, they all speak the language of compassion and service proved through their endless efforts in serving the local animal shelter, soup kitchen, recreation department, hospital, elementary schools, UNICEF, Ocean of Love, and many other service endeavors.

My Project

NJ District Key Club Convention is a weekend leadership program for today's young leaders. This life-changing event focuses on service leadership as the first, most meaningful leadership-development experience. Key Clubbers will learn the most important lesson of leadership—it comes from helping others succeed. Large and small group workshops, discussions and team-building activities take place over the course of the weekend. Students have opportunities to learn leadership skills that will help them to change their schools, communities, and the world for the better. While exploring leadership in a whole new way, participants will make amazing new friends and have experiences they will never forget. Positive, ongoing interaction with other Key Leader graduates offers continuing reinforcement, encouragement and growth of leadership skills.
