Help Keep My Classes' Independent Reading Program Going!

My students need 49 new books to stock our independent reading library, which gives them choice and allows them to access the newest young adult literature.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. p.'s classroom raised $511

This project is fully funded

My Students

Choice is everything when it comes to reading. If you aren't invested in your book, you won't read it. This is why it's so important to me to keep my independent reading library up-to-date and current!

I teach 9th and 10th grade literature to struggling readers and writers.

All of my students are several years behind grade level in their reading and writing, and together, we view their seat in my classroom as a chance to reverse this situation. As a part of my curriculum, students are required to be constantly reading books of their choice for homework and in class on designated days. It is extremely important that I can provide my students with engaging, level-appropriate books that they can read independently.

My Project

The 49 books that I am asking for are the kinds of books my students ask for constantly. If I had to go out and buy these books myself, I would quickly spend my whole paycheck trying to replenish and update my library, which is why I'm asking for your help. Even if you just purchase one book for my class through a $5 or $10 donation, it would mean so much to us. Just like I tell the kids, every little bit of effort and help counts, so I thank you in advance for your support!

Many of us take for granted being able to pick up a great book and being able to read it.

My students deserve the chance to feel this joy and excitement around reading, instead of dread and fear. If you are able to contribute to this project, you will help my students realize that reading is fun, and they deserve access to all the new release young adult books that come out. They're worth it and reading is worth it.
