Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work at an elementary school where eighty-nine percent of the students receive free or reduced-price lunches. The majority of my students come from another country and are new to the ways of our education system.
The majority of my students come from low-income homes.
A large number of students are learning how to speak and read English for the first time. I have a combined grouping of students, ESOL, and special needs.
My Project
Please help us! It's too hot for this! In an enclosed classroom, in Miami, windows don't open and a broken AC! We need air, ASAP!!
The AC in our classroom continues to break down, and never is fixed properly.
Our school is one hundred years old and the AC's are so outdated! We put in work orders but it never seems to happen fast enough or accurately. My students can't function or concentrate when stuck in the heat and there are no other rooms to move to, considering so many other rooms have broken ACs too.
