My Project
Imagine a student sitting down with a blank notebook, pen in hand, ready to pour their thoughts onto paper. In my short fiction and poetry classes, I’ve seen how transformative this simple act can be. With the right tools—a notebook that feels like their own creative space, a pen that glides easily on the page—students don’t just write; they discover.
Many of my students are beginning to see poetry as more than a school assignment.
They’re exploring it as a craft, a way to express themselves and connect with the world. It’s thrilling to witness their creativity flourish, and I want to give them every opportunity to thrive.
The notebooks and pens I’ve chosen will help students slow down, step away from their screens, and embrace the beauty of messy first drafts and raw ideas. Thin, portable binders will give them a place to collect annotated poems, drafts, and finished pieces—turning them into personal portfolios they can be proud of.
As we prepare for the second semester and welcome a new group of students to the world of poetry, your support could make all the difference. With your help, we can provide them with the tools to truly engage with their craft and feel inspired every step of the way.
