This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a low socioeconomic area. 100% of my students receive a free lunch. They come from multiethnic and multilingual homes. For most of them, this will be their first school experience. And it will be remotely.
Our school is the heart of our community.
My students are longing to come to school, but this will not be possible due to the health concerns that our country is currently facing. I must do my best, as their teacher, to make this transition as smooth as possible.
Please help my students succeed during distance learning. They are bright and eager to learn. They don’t have the luxury of having all of the accommodations that other students may have in higher socioeconomic areas of the city.
My Project
During distance learning, my students are equipped with Chromebooks to use, but no headphones. Their homes sometimes get to be very noisy with family members going about their business while the students are trying to complete their online learning.
My students need to listen to my lessons and participate in Zoom meetings.
They need to hear at a volume that is comfortable. We are often doing so many things at one time that it's difficult to focus. These headphones will help keep ambient noise out, while students focus on their work.
Please help my students plug in during distance learning to be able to focus as well as being respectful to others in their homes. Too many devices on at one time can get out of control.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
