Help, I Need A Pencil Sharpener That Works!

My Students

"Can I borrow a pencil and can you sharpen my pencil?", are phrases I hear throughout the day. This year alone the custodian has replaced a pencil sharpener 5 times in my room.

I currently teach 100 delightful and curious middle school math students.

Students on a daily basis are asking for materials. Being a math teacher, I prefer students use a pencil so they can erase mistakes and make corrections as we go over a problem. With the economy the way it is, a simple thing like a pencil is harder to come by for many students. I want to make sure students are equipped with the proper materials because this is essential for learning. What better way to guarantee success? A student should come to school prepared, I feel it is my job to do so. A simple thing like a pencil would be beneficial. Having a sturdy pencil sharpener that I could let students use without the fear of it breaking would also help to guarantee success.

My Project

By providing my classroom with pencils, a sturdy pencil sharpener and other writing tools, you will decrease some of the stress students might be feeling with not having the proper learning tools to be successful. Thank you so much for considering this simple, yet effective project.

A simple tool like a sharpened pencil may seem trivial, but that simple tool opens a larger opportunity for students and that is success.

Valuable learning time will not be wasted looking for a pencil sharpener that works. Your help will empower my students to focus on learning and be prepared.
