My students need books and book collections, such as "Sleeping Beauty," "Cinder Edna," and "Egyptian Cinderella," that help them explore fairy tales and fables and act like a spring board for writing narratives.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember when your teacher used to read you different books and stories? Did you compare these stories to other versions of that same tale? Were you given an opportunity to write your own version of a fairy tale? I want my students to be able to answer YES to all three of these questions.
I teach in a low income, very diverse school in California.
We have very limited funds and many students come from disadvantaged households. They do not have the opportunity to experience the richness of books and literature on a regular basis. In school, students are required to read, compare, and write about different genres and styles of writing. Many students do not have the background knowledge or experience to be able to write about and discuss similarities and differences between different versions of the same folk tale or story. I need to provide as many resources, materials and experiences as I can for my students.
My Project
I am requesting books that focus on a variety and variation of different fairy tales and fables. These different versions of the classic fairy tales will allow all the students to compare the differences and similarities as well as learn about the cultural differences that exist between different versions. The books are also a great way to encourage students to write fractured or modified fairy tale stories. Many times students have a hard time with writing. Using books are a great way to get the students excited about writing. They also provide a stepping stone to that writing.
I really need these books to help my class in a variety of ways.
From books to read, cultures to share, differences and similarities to compare, and to jump start writing. If you can help me out with these books, please donate to this project. Thank you again for your help.
