My students need Chromebooks for use in pairs to complete various online interactive Financial Literacy programs.

These students inspire me every day. They have elected to challenge themselves with learning how to manage their finances by enrolling in my Personal Financial Literacy course. They aim to attend and graduate from college (most of them as the first generation in their family to do so) and become financially independent.
These students have plans for their lives; they refuse to let their zip code dictate the trajectory of their lives.
They realize that a solid education is the key to financial independence and career success. Although in most cases, my students' family situations are currently challenging and they are living well below the poverty level, they have big plans for their own lives.
Next year, I will teach Personal Financial Literacy to two 34-student classes. I have requested 17 Chromebooks so that students can work in pairs to complete various online interactive assignments.
The Chromebooks will be utilized approximately one day each week for students to engage in online activities to reinforce the financial literacy concepts taught in class.
One assignment involves completing the Everfi Financial Literacy program. This program has nine modules [Savings, Banking, Payment Types, Credit Scores, Higher Education, Renting Vs. Owing, Insurance and Taxes, Consumer Protection and Investing]. Students take a pre-test, engage in interactive tutorials and take a post-test. Another assignment involves playing the online PAYBACK game which involves making a series of decisions about paying for higher education. Yet other assignments involve completing various interactive online activities through the NEXT-GEN Personal Finance Program. During the fall semester, students will utilize websites such as studentaid, fastweb and raise.me to learn about scholarships and financial aid. In the spring semester, students will utilize collegecountdown to analyze financial aid packages and apstudent.collegeboard to ascertain what AP exam scores various colleges require to grant college credit. Having access to the internet in our classroom helps me to keep my lessons current, lets me teach beyond the classroom walls, and allows me to engage students using a format that students enjoy.
