About My Students

I am such a lucky teacher to be able to teach some of the brightest stars and best students in the world. I know that there are future leaders of tomorrow sitting in classroom every day. They continue to make me proud daily.

Every day my students enter the room with smiles on their faces and give me just a little sign that lets me know that they get what is going on. They try so hard to stay on task and ask the best questions. We have also incorporated a lot of small, social-emotional learning activities that help drive the subject of social studies.

As the school year began we discovered that we could accomplish so much more in class if we had laptops. Often times some students are too shy to speak up and share the amazing ideas that they have in their head. Having the laptops in the room can help those students shine.

Academically the students will benefit by having the world as their fingertips. In this history class we do a lot of research and investigation in the past and present.

This year we have taken a very a big interest in not only worrying about ourselves but each other. Social Emotional learning both inside and out of the classroom is key in becoming better students and people.

In Their Own Words

My goal is to try to advance my understanding of social studies and to take my thinking to the next level. I also hope to get a good grades and be able to show that I understand the topic we were learning in class. It will help us have better communication with one another.

The laptops will give us better resources in class which will drive our instruction and understanding of the lessons. Often times in class the conversation seemed to be limited or not taken as far as it can go because some students are shy or feel like their answers are incorrect. Hopefully some students will shine with their outstanding leadership skills.

This class requires computers because new information is not in the textbooks and if we access the internet our information will be up to date. Furthermore many of us are more comfortable writing on a computer, and since we will have to work on computers on our future jobs it's important we learn now.
