Some of my students lack food security, and some students have already burned through their lunch calories by 2pm. I have noticed that whatever the reason, having a supply of snacks increases their ability to focus and pay attention.
Let's face it, chemistry is hard-chemistry is harder on an empty stomach.
Having these snacks available to all students means everyone is on an equal status regardless of their reason for being hungry when they enter my classroom. Thanks so much for partnering with me as I try to remove as many barriers to learning as I can.
