Mrs. Bellinger from Garden City GA is requesting educational kits & games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need more small group phonemic awareness and reading skills centers that they can do independently to master essential literacy skills in order to become fluent readers.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach in a Title I school where 97% of the students qualify for free or reduced breakfast and lunch.
My students are energetic, caring, and inquisitive.
We are truly a community of learners. We learn something new each day. The most exciting thing that we learned recently during a science lesson was that a blue whale's heart is the size of a small car! There are times when students ask me questions that I do not know the answer to, so we find the answer together.
My students also absolutely love learning in small groups! The classroom is filled with loud cheering whenever I announce that we are transitioning into small groups for literacy or math. Several students have told me that small group time is their favorite part of the school day.
The Phonemic Awareness Instant Learning Centers and the Reading Skills Folder Game Libraries will help make my students' favorite part of the day be more exciting! The materials will be used as independent centers during my small group literacy time.
Phonological awareness is critical for learning to read any alphabetic writing system.
Research shows that difficulty with phoneme awareness and other phonological skills is a predictor of poor reading and spelling development (Moats & Tolman, 2009). Please assist my kindergarten students in gaining the phonemic awareness and phonics skills that they need to help them succeed in emergent reading and beyond!
