This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are taking a photo class with no cameras. They are unmotivated because they assumed they'd be getting cameras. As you can imagine it is difficult to teach a photography class without cameras especially when some of them don't even have a phone to take photos on. Our school is also phone free so during school they are not allowed to use their phones even if it's for taking photos.
My students are always excited to learn and eager to get their hands on digital cameras so they can get out there and shoot photos.
We have great plans for assignments where they get to take portraits of family and friends, take still life photos as well as take photos of school events for our yearbook.
I want to show my students that they are worthy of quality materials and equipment, and I want to show them the possibilities that the world of photography has to offer. Providing them with cameras that they can use during class to practice using the various functions on will bring both me and my students joy.
