Help me give my students a calm, restorative space where they can practice mindfulness, regulate their emotions, and return to learning with clarity and peace.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This mindfulness room is a new addition to our school, and will be designed as a safe haven for all 600 scholars. Each piece included in this project has been carefully curated to support emotional regulation, calm, and connection.
From Pre-K-5th grade, our scholars love learning mindfulness practices, having space to talk and process feelings in comfort, and exploring their somatic experiences of their body in a nurturing and supportive environment.
For this project, I’ve selected items that support calming relaxation, mindful listening, and improved focus—essentials for helping students regulate their emotions and engage more fully in the classroom.
I’ve included singing bowls, sound meditation tools which create soothing tones that help students transition into a state of calm. These tools are especially helpful during mindful listening exercises and can serve as gentle cues for attention and grounding.
I’ve also added vibrating mindfulness tools, like hand-held devices and cushions, which offer calming sensory feedback. These tools help students soothe their nervous systems through gentle vibration, promoting body awareness and emotional regulation in a non-verbal, accessible way.
Together, these tools will help me create a peaceful, inclusive space where all students can thrive emotionally and academically.
This space will give every child a chance to reset, reflect, and return to learning with peace and presence.
It will serve as a gift for the whole school community! Scholars, teachers, parents, and beyond will benefit from this beautiful space. Please help me make this a reality for my school!
