My Project

Next year, my school will be transitioning to a Montessori school. Montessori is where students have more choice in their learning. Students get to create a work cycle plan to decide what they will be completing each day and how they will complete it. Students will have the opportunity to work around the classroom using flexible seats, floor mats, or at their tables. Students will also learn practical life skills like cooking and cleaning. Students will be in charge of their snacks, drinks, and cleaning of the classroom.

In Montessori, students also learn about their senses by having sensory bins with different materials they can touch and create with.

My goal is to provide a fun student-friendly classroom with more items for my students to choose to work with. My students are special because they will be a part of the first free public Montessori school in Iowa. They will be learning in a new way and transitioning their brains to learn and grow in different ways. My students will be more in charge of their learning using this Montessori approach.
