Newsela reaches students from Highly Gifted to Special Needs! My students would tremendously benefit from having a differentiated reading program like Newsela to meet their many diverse needs.
I teach in a racially diverse Title I school.
Our campus has two magnets and a main school which includes a large special needs population and an equally large gifted population. I have taken on the task of providing literacy assistance to this diverse population and work hard to provide a challenging curriculum that meets the needs of all of these students. Newsela will compliment my school's already high standards and help to take these students to the next level of accomplishment.
My Project
Newsela adapts to the reading level of each student while empowering them to adjust to the complexity of the text. Students learn to apply strategies like highlighting and annotating digital text. After reading each Common Core-aligned article, students take quizzes, the results of which provide timely insights into students’ grade-level reading ability by standard, which helps teachers target their instruction most effectively.
Please support our acquisition of this amazing program.
The students in my school are so incredibly deserving of this program, and it will make a huge difference in not only their academic reading, but also in their self esteem. I am so grateful for your consideration.
