Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The items I'm requesting in my Donors Choose project are the bare minimum for any functioning classroom. I want my students to be able to do hands-on projects in a space that feels welcoming. Right now I have to borrow supplies from other teachers, which is not sustainable.

Being a public school teacher, I can't drop lots of money to fully stock my classroom so that my students can participate in hands-on and project-based activities.

My students are taking biomedical classes and haven't been able to do any experiments or learn any new skills.

The specific items I am requesting include shelving, storage baskets, utility cart, classroom paper trays and storage cart. Currently things are all over the floor and students don't have ownership of their space since it's not organized. I need a wireless presenter because my laptop has to be connected to the corner of the room and I am unable to walk around the class because I don't have bluetooth access to my laptop. I also included basic teacher essentials such as laminators, laminator sheets, color pencils, markers, glue sticks, construction paper, and scissors. My class is project based and without these materials I am unable to conduct hands-on projects for my students.

Lastly, I teach Human Body Systems which is a class that is hands-on and project based. In this class students build different parts of the body on a skeleton. In order to teach this class, I need to be able to keep our supplies and room clean since it can get messy. Magic erasers clean the skeletons students build, flag tapes are used to label anatomy on the skeletons, a broom and lysol is needed to clean up the mess, and headphones are useful for listening to videos for the course.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
