This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting materials to help provide all of my students with a more comfortable and welcoming class environment. The bean bag chairs will help provide flex seating options for my students who find it difficult/uncomfortable to sit in a traditional desk for long periods of time, and provide a safe environment for students to spend time in and study.
The Mobile White board will help provide a dynamic area for note taking and learning, and the ability to conduct class outdoors at times.
Conducting class out in nature imparts a vibrant, revitalizing experience that can help break up the monotony of the typical class experience.
For my AP Psych students, being able to hold a model of the brain can help them connect complex, abstract class topics with the physical locations of the brain we learn they come from. We also do multiple projects involving modeling clay, one being constructing a brain and components of the brain with play doh, to help provide a hands on experience with the brain physiology they learn. To lessen the financial hardship for my students, being able to provide modeling clay would help ensure their success in the project as well as ease the burden monetarily from them.
A number of my students are also part of our school's mental health focused club, In Touch, and have expressed an interest in pursuing fields related to mental health due to their own experiences and the need they see in the world around them. This generation in particular has more tools in their kit to combat the pervasive issue of depression, anxiety, and the many other mental illness that
