Help me give my students the books they ask for! Each of these titles were asked for specifically by a student but we are missing pieces of a series. Fill the gaps and keep them reading!
My students come from all over our city from different socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds to make beautifully diverse classrooms. They are a mix of students from all abilities and with wide interests.
Some students are already avid, higher readers while some struggle and are still looking for the hook to get them going and gaining.
Students who are already reading at grade level need more material to maintain their levels while students reading below grade level need more high-interest books to build increased reading stamina and inspire positive, lifelong connections with books and reading.
My Project
As a school library, our budgets are tight but our readers are plentiful. When students find what they love, they are eager to devour everything written by their favorite authors or read a series until the end. This creates excitement for reading the next book and so on!
When we are missing pieces of a favorite series, disappointed students lose that momentum.
Each of these books were specifically requested by students who are excited to turn the pages of their next adventure!
When students see that their requests are being honored, it is also very empowering. They not only go onto read the books themselves but recommend them to others with a sense of pride that they helped bring books to the shelf!
