Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

They are incredibly sincere and hard-working people. However, they struggle daily with the symptoms of autism. Autism affects each of them differently, but they all struggle with communication.

Some are nonverbal and communicate through art, gestures, pictures, and even electronic devices.

Some are withdrawn, and some are highly social. However, they all experience difficulty relating to others, and as a result, they have experienced more than reasonable derision. Most come from low-income households and all attend a very low-budget school.

My Project

During the Covid-19 shutdown, the students of our class would pick up vegetable plants and herbs from school to grow at home. They experienced the joy of growing and contributing healthy food to family meals. Now we have finally returned to on-campus learning.

Now the students would like to grow more food and share it with the school community.

We have plenty of eager students, space, soil, and dependable supply lines for donated plants and seeds. All we need is a few items to increase our productivity and efficiency.
