My students need kinectic sand, Amaco air dry clay and blenders. These items will help my students improve fine motor skills, sculpt and create paper for card designs.
My students love art! They're eager learners and explorers of art. We haven't discovered all there is to know about art and the techniques. Hopefully this school year we can be successful in beginning this new endeavor. Our challenge is quantity. If every student had enough supplies they'd be inspired
My students are awesome!
They love art. They love to dream. They love self expression through art. Each and every one of my students are eager to learn art, whether its a new artist, a neat art technique or a new color they discover. My school is a great place for children to learn in any capacity. We have great teachers who care and a community that loves their children. Here at my school we have a lot of diversity and different cultures and backgrounds that makes us all one big family. What's so important for me is that our school district supports the arts and all it has to offer our young students. This makes me feel so lucky to be an art educator because many school don't have art departments or programs to support such important curriculum for our youth. Not only for me but for my students this is definitely a chance of a life time to discover art!
My Project
I teach art for the entire school Kindergarten through 5th grade. For my younger artist the kinetic sand would help them start out with the basic skills. Skills like fine motor coordination, hand and finger manipulations and discovering texture as well as sculpting and creating by hand. With a population of over 1200 students the sand would help so that each student can explore with the materials. For my older students the air dry clay would be a great addition to our curriculum. Learning about the technique of both sculptor and ceramics would benefit my learners of art. At my school we do not have a kiln to bake art, but I will not limit my students because of this deficiency. We can still create sculpture and ceramics using air dry clay instead. The air dry clay we'd used to learn how in ancient times vessels and other items were created to help make life better. So many of my students could learn not only the sculpting and technique but also the history.
The funding of this project for me would introduce so much learning, exploration and growth to my students.
Just having the ease of knowing that the quantity will not affect their quality of education in art. Having enough materials can greatly improve their creative process as well as knowing they can work without being limited. Since my school doesn't have a kiln to bake clay this could still introduce them to creating form through sculptor and ceramics. My students would be inspired!
