I would like to add more culturally diverse books to our classroom library. Our school represents many different cultures, yet my classroom library does not reflect that. Our township is becoming increasingly diverse and it is important that our students have access to books that reflect their experiences and expose them to a wide range of perspectives.
The books will represent my students in our classroom and they will be able to relate to the characters in the stories which will increase student engagement, and their knowledge of their heritage and foster a positive self-identity.
