My Students

My students are in a substantially separate program for students who have global communication delays and/or a diagnosis of Autism. They are wonderful individuals who love to learn about the world around them, both academically and socially. They need instruction that is developmentally appropriate, and designed to meet their learning profiles based on organic brain chemistry. When they grasp a concept, standard, or get excited about a new topic, their smiles warm all the hearts of those around them.

Help my excited little learners develop the tools needed to build communication, social, and academic skills so they can immerse themselves in a world full of education and learning.

My classroom is part of a larger primary school that celebrates inclusive practices and promotes opportunities for these practices. Inclusion not only helps my students build up their independence skills, but instills compassion, kindness, and understanding within the general education peers working alongside my students.

To help my students be the most successful they can be, consistent, data driven pedagogy and lessons are essential to ensure they are receiving instruction that will help them to develop into the most independent young adult they can be.

My Project

The Edmark Program provides systematically designed instruction that pairs word development, pictures, and interactive tasks, which is essential for instruction with students who have an Autism Diagnosis. It is an errorless program, which means students will be guided through their reading development so they will not learn any errors in their skills. There are assessments that will provide data to use for IEPs, placement, inclusive opportunities, and district and parent feedback. This is a wrap-around program, which will allow parents to utilize the activities at home to support maintenance and mastery of the skills.
