My Students

My classroom is made up of 27 inner city Pre-K students from various backgrounds and cultures. All of my student receive free breakfast or lunch, depending on the Pre-K session they attend (morning/afternoon).

Within my classroom I have an array of learners including English Language Learners, Special Education Students, and students who are considered At-Risk.

Students from our Autism Spectrum Program also spend much of their day in my classroom for inclusion services. Many of my students have limited access to quality learning materials at home. For all of my students this is their first experience with school. They are enthusiastic learners and love to explore new things.

My Project

These materials will help me provide my students with more variety in the building materials available to them, promoting creativity and continued development of their critical thinking skills. The materials will be used daily in the block and STEM centers for free building or engineering challenges.

Blocks are one of the most important tools in a Pre-K classroom, allowing children of all levels/backgrounds to be successful and continue to develop many important skills.

They are extremely engaging and appealing to almost all students. They help students develop their vocabulary, creative thinking, problem solving, motor skills, math skills, and engineering skills.
