Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Our students in the intermediate grades will have an opportunity to do something unique with their musical skills by being part of a hand chime choir. I, their music teacher, have a strong background in handbell and chime playing, and I have wanted to start a choir for that for some time. Hand chimes are far more affordable than handbells, but are still cost prohibitive. The only way to move forward with having a hand chime choir is to have the instruments donated to us.

Hand chimes in our classroom would have a huge impact on our music classes at Crystal Hill!

All intermediate students would be taught the fundamentals of how to play them. I would also have an honor choir where students who wish to learn advanced music could do so. While this project is expensive, it will be used by our students year after year at Crystal Hill Elementary School. Thank you for your consideration.
