Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning I greet 96 enthusiastic students in the hallway who can't wait to rotate through each of their 3 classes to see what exciting learning activity their teachers have planned for them that day.

I teach in a Title I school that is located in a rural community that serves the educational needs of over 650 students in grades K-6.

I work with multi-grade level ELA students who love to read fictional books. However, they shy away from non-fiction reading because they find the text structure difficult to understand. Having access to current high interest non-fiction magazines will help develop my students to be well rounded readers.

My Project

This donation will allow me to replace my out-dated magazines with current and exciting new reading material. By having a complete class set for my 5th grade class, they will be able to work on the same reading and writing activity that supports the learning objectives that are being taught. They will be to able to engage in stimulating conversation and help each other to learn and grow in their informational text reading development.

Your donation will create excitement for reading among my students.

They will be eagerly awaiting the next magazine to arrive so they can learn about a new topic and apply the skills they have learned. Please join me to help students develop the love of reading informational text!
