This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach at a wonderful community school in Albuquerque, NM! My pre-k is a place of joy and laughter. One of the most important aspects of my classroom is the rapport and relationships I build with each individual child and their families. One of the ways I (and all teachers) do this is by first making sure each individual child's needs are met. Whether that be food or clothing, children must have their basic human needs met before they are ready to fully participate and experience the joys of learning. Years ago, I received some amazing child-sized pitchers on DonorsChoose.org. This year I want to use these pitchers in a small, self-serve snack center. I often have students coming to school tired or hungry. This makes them cranky and often they cannot have fun in this state. The treats/snacks/water/and carts for organization will allow me to set up a child-friendly snack cart. I will provide healthy snacks and beverages for my students to access throughout the day and even take home as needed. It is amazing what a snack can do for a child and how they feel! Thanks for helping my students perform their very best in school, I look forward to setting up "Ms. Steph's Snack Shack and Treats!"
