My Project
Everyone loves Craymond, except his mother Clawdia. Unlike another favorite mother-son duo, Clawdia is ready to cut the apron strings. Clawdia and Craymond are aquatic blue crayfish who live in our classroom. Crayfish can become very territorial. In fact, Craymond was a happy surprise. Originally, Clawdia was a gal on her own lavishing in the love and attention from her new friends. Before she settled into her new classroom home, she had laid eggs to a large group of baby crayfish. It was thought that her babies all had found homes in other tanks until one day before Thanksgiving break, we started our Circle Time with a tiny little crayfish staring back at us. Somehow this determined soul found a way to hide for three months before making his big reveal to the room.
Now, we need to help Craymond move out before tragedy falls upon our room.
Craymond has gotten so big that Clawdia now sees him as a threat to her territory. When stressed, crayfish can fight or have issues with molting. It may result in the loss of one or both of our friends. My class is humbly asking that you help us acquire a new tank set up, so that Craymond and Clawdia can be comfortable and continue their loved existence in our room.
Instructional-wise, Clawdia and Craymond have been the star of many activities: the students have read their favorite stories to them, there have been several art pieces created about them, and some friends have even used them to help manage big feelings. Coming up in the year is our pet study, where they will be the main stars of several activities.
